About Us

What Led to the Creation of The Beauty Shake?

The mechanism behind weight loss or healthy weight maintenance is not complicated. To lose weight you must create a negative energy balance: calories taken are less than calories expended. Of course, this is easier said than done. Lowering our calorie intake leads to hunger.

The trick lies in choosing the right foods to keep hunger under control. Foods that are highly processed or high in simple sugars deliver instant satisfaction but do not keep us full for long. On the other hand, foods rich in protein and dietary fibre will keep the feeling of hunger away for a lot longer.

In the past 15 years working in the food industry, I have come across a huge number of products claiming to deliver various health claims and benefits. Many weight loss products promise miraculous and fast results without much effort. A large proportion of these health claims has none or very limited scientific evidence behind it.

I have been experimenting with various ingredients throughout my professional life and sharing these with my family, friends and colleagues. I was often asked why I don’t launch my own line of products. So finally I did and I am proud to bring you The Beauty Shake!

Why Marine Collagen?

How will The Beauty Shake keep me full?

The Beauty Shake was scientifically designed to deliver the feeling of satiety while providing a controlled amount of calories, thus enabling weight loss without starving. How was this achieved? It is all about the combination of good quality protein and dietary fibre.

Dietary fibre, by definition, can generally be described as that portion of food that is not digested in the human small intestine. It passes into the large intestine where it is partially or fully fermented. These characteristics of dietary fibre are associated with its numerous well-documented health benefits.

The Beauty Shake contains a mixture of three different fibres – oat fibre, cacao husk fibre and acacia gum. As a result, The Beauty Shake delivers two-thirds of the fibre as insoluble and one third as soluble. Insoluble fibres contribute to the feeling of fullness due to their ability to swell in our stomach and thus suppressing the feeling of hunger. In fact, you will probably be able to ‘taste’ the goodness of these insoluble fibres on your tongue when drinking The Beauty Shake as you will find out that it is not completely smooth.

Soluble fibres, on the other hand, are fermented by our gut microflora, thus selectively supporting the growth of friendly bacteria in our digestive system, contributing to digestive health. Most commonly used soluble fibres are inulin (chicory root extract) and artificially made polydextrose. Both of these can cause digestive discomfort due to the speed of fermentation and creating osmotic pressures in our lower gut. For that reason, we chose natural prebiotic fibre acacia gum, which is harvested from acacia trees and offers excellent tolerance due to its much larger molecular size and thus slower, gentler fermentation supporting growth of beneficial gut microflora without discomfort.

Why is Protein Important in Weight Loss?

Role of protein in weight-loss is due to the fact that protein, together with dietary fibre, aids satiety making us feel full for longer, helping to reduce overall hunger and calorie intake to support weight loss. Protein is also used by our bodies to help repair muscle tissue post-work-out and promote muscle protein synthesis. Protein also plays an important role in healthy ageing as it helps reduce the rate of muscle loss through ageing.

About 20% of the human body is made up of protein. Proteins are made of small building blocks called amino acids. Hundreds of amino acids exist in nature, but the human body only uses 22 of them. The body can produce all but nine of the amino acids it needs. These nine are called essential amino acids and they must come from food.

The Beauty Shake combines the benefits of milk and soy proteins to ensure best possible amino acid composition and absorbability to support your personal health and wellbeing. Together with 3.5g of marine collagen in every serving you are getting a full 20g of high-quality protein in every single Beauty Shake!
